Placing Reserves and
ReQuest
Interlibrary Loans
Ordering books is now easier than ever!
|
•From the pomfretlibrary.org website, go to our online catalog.
|
|
•Log in using your 14-digit barcode # (with no spaces). For your first login, your password is userpass; you will be prompted to select a permanent password.TIP: Forgot your password? Call or email the libray and we can reset it to userpass.
|
|
•On any one of the search screens - Keyword, Browse or Advanced - select both Pomfret Library and reQuest catalogs. You will now be searching both catalogs at once.
|
|
•Enter your search terms.
|
|
•The search results for Pomfret will be listed above those for reQuest. If Pomfret owns the item, follow the directions for Reserves; if not, follow the directions for reQuest ILLs.
|
|
To Reserve an item owned by Pomfret Public Library: |
•Select a title on the search results screen.
|
|
•Click on Request this item.
|
|
• Submit your reserve to be picked up at the circulation desk.You will receive an email or phone call when the item is available for you. TIP: Please pick up reserves promptly (or call to cancel); there may be other patrons waiting for the same item.
|
|
| TIP: You can view and delete your reserves by logging in to your account and selecting My Circulation Status. |
To reQuest an item from another library: |
| •Select a title in the reQuest Main Catalog from the search results screen. TIP: Repeats of the same title signify various editions - hardcover, paperback, audio, etc. Choose an edition held at many locations to improve the likelihood of receiving the title. |

| •The libraries that own that item will be listed above the cataloging information. TIP: Only the locations that say [ILL Lender] participate in the statewide interlibrary loan system.(Most others will lend to you in person with a current barcoded Pomfret library code.) |
|
| •Click on either Borrow this Item or Request this Item. |
|
| •The pop up box will already have the necessary information filled in. Just click Submit and you will be notified when the item has arrived for you. |

TIP: Pomfret Public Library receives ILL deliveries on Tuesday and Thursday. Most items come within two weeks; you will be notified the day your request arrives (or if we are unable to fill your request).
TIP: Please return your interlibrary loan items promptly to Pomfret Public Library!

reQuest, the Statewide Library Catalog of Connecticut, is one of the ICONN databases made available through the CT state library. It contains over 4 million titles from more than 400 academic, public, school and special libraries in the state; more than 200 of those libraries participate in the interlibrary loan system. The reQuest Main Catalog can be searched to find books, videos, music and other items.
